How to make an appointment
Patients can book appointments through:
- Telephone: Contacting the surgery during opening hours.
- Online: Using online services via the NHS App
- In Person: Visiting the reception desk during surgery hours.
Urgent Same-Day Requests
- Patients should contact the surgery as early as possible.
- Reception staff will use triage questions to assess urgency and allocate appropriate appointments or advice.
- In cases of medical emergencies, patients will be advised to contact 999 or attend A&E.
Cwm Calon Surgery offers a range of appointment options to meet patient needs:
Urgent (Same-Day) Appointments
- Reserved for patients with acute or urgent medical needs.
- Patients will be triaged by a clinician or receptionist trained in triage protocols.
- These appointments are prioritised based on clinical urgency.
Routine Appointments
- For non-urgent concerns, long-term condition management, or follow-ups.
- Can be booked in advance (up to 4 weeks ahead).
- Includes options for face-to-face, telephone, or online consultations.
Telephone Consultations
- For issues that do not require a physical examination.
- Patients may discuss their concerns with a clinician, who will advise on the next steps.
Online Appointments
- Some appointments are available for booking through online platforms (e.g., NHS App).
- Patients are encouraged to use this service for routine matters to improve access for others.
Home Visits
- For patients who are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery.
- Requests must be made by 10:00 AM whenever possible, and a clinician will assess whether a home visit is appropriate.
