Appointments

How to make an appointment

Patients can book appointments through:

  1. Telephone: Contacting the surgery during opening hours.
  2. Online: Using online services via the NHS App
  3. In Person: Visiting the reception desk during surgery hours.

Urgent Same-Day Requests

  • Patients should contact the surgery as early as possible.
  • Reception staff will use triage questions to assess urgency and allocate appropriate appointments or advice.
  • In cases of medical emergencies, patients will be advised to contact 999 or attend A&E.

Cwm Calon Surgery offers a range of appointment options to meet patient needs:

Urgent (Same-Day) Appointments

  • Reserved for patients with acute or urgent medical needs.
  • Patients will be triaged by a clinician or receptionist trained in triage protocols.
  • These appointments are prioritised based on clinical urgency.

Routine Appointments

  • For non-urgent concerns, long-term condition management, or follow-ups.
  • Can be booked in advance (up to 4 weeks ahead).
  • Includes options for face-to-face, telephone, or online consultations.

Telephone Consultations

  • For issues that do not require a physical examination.
  • Patients may discuss their concerns with a clinician, who will advise on the next steps.

Online Appointments

  • Some appointments are available for booking through online platforms (e.g., NHS App).
  • Patients are encouraged to use this service for routine matters to improve access for others.

Home Visits

  • For patients who are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery.
  • Requests must be made by 10:00 AM whenever possible, and a clinician will assess whether a home visit is appropriate.
